The Relevance of Social/Environmental Movements to Environmental Policy Advocacy

The discussion of environmental issues is fascinating. Mainly if this discussion is related to Indonesia’s policy, the fact that environmental issues are issues that have a broad impact on society also an indicator of how any ecological policy should be thoroughly discussed and must include various stakeholders. The complexity of this issue becomes even more interesting when considering the role of social movements, which are essential elements in civil society and have a role in encouraging the government to create policies. Regarding today’s conditions where various social/environmental movements exist, it will be interesting to see if social movements still have relevance in creating public policies, especially in Indonesia.
